Daycare Provider Implicated in Child Drowning

In the news today:

A daycare provider in Canon City, Colorado has pleaded guilty to child abuse for the drowning death of a four-year-old child who was in her care.

The child drowned in her backyard pool last month. The child was reportedly playing with a group of children near the pool and fell in. Reports indicate that the adult caregiver was inside the house, making lunch for the children.

The caregiver was licensed to have eight children in her home, but at the time of the drowning, had 13 children in her home.  There is no indication whether or not there was a  swimming pool barrier in place on the property, however, combined with proper adult supervision, a pool fence or pool safety net could have helped prevent this terrible tragedy.

  1. A terrible tragedy and one we hope is not repeated. As baby swimming instructors we also ask every parent, regardless of their location, to ensure their kids get basic swimming lessons - its never too soon to start (we have incredibly young babies who love it in the pool).

  2. Love the Honest diapers for my newborn. This particular box was returned since my baby grew out of this stage. Amazon has a great return policy. I had to call customer service for a question and the rep was really helpful. I'm happy with the experience.
