In the news today is the story of a two-year-old Sacramento boy that drowned Sunday in a backyard swimming pool while visiting relatives.
Paramedics transported the boy to a local hospital but he could not be revived.
Basic safety measures like installing a fence around a swimming pool and alarms on doors leading to the pool area can help prevent similar accidents, said the local Fire Deputy Chief. Both precautions are required by building codes, but the rules only apply to new pools and said homeowners sometimes disable the alarms after they are installed.
More information about swimming pool fences and pool safety can be found at All-Safe's website.
Sad that inspite of an increasing number of such accidents occuring, nothing seriously is being done about it :(
